How we use AI.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the way professional services operate. At HHG, we use AI selectively to support efficiency, responsiveness and the delivery of legal services, while maintaining the careful exercise of professional insights and judgement, and client care expected of a law firm.

We see AI as a tool that can assist our people, not replace them. Used appropriately, it can help reduce administrative burden, improve workflows and allow our lawyers to spend more time focused on strategy, advice and outcomes for clients.

Where AI assists our work.

  • Research

    Legal research and information gathering
  • Summarising

    Reviewing and summarising documents
  • Drafting

    Drafting first-pass content and correspondence
  • Identifying patterns

Identifying patterns, risks or inconsistencies across large volumes of material
  • Workflows

Improving internal workflows and operational efficiency

Human oversight remains essential.

All AI-assisted work remains subject to lawyer review, professional supervision and independent verification before it is relied on or provided to clients.

AI-generated content can be incomplete, inaccurate or outdated. Responsibility for the advice, judgment and final work product always remains with our lawyers. Where AI tools are used, outputs are checked against source material, applicable law and professional obligations.

This is particularly important in legal matters where accuracy, confidentiality and context matter.

Protecting confidentiality and client information.

We recognise that confidentiality, privacy and legal professional obligations remain critical when using emerging technologies.

HHG expects its people to use approved systems and follow internal guidance around the appropriate use of AI tools. The use of client information within AI-enabled systems is considered carefully and managed in line with our professional and legal obligations.

A measured and responsible approach.

AI technology continues to evolve rapidly, as do the legal, regulatory and ethical considerations surrounding its use.

Our approach to AI is measured, practical and grounded in professional responsibility. We continue to assess emerging tools, monitor developments and adapt our internal processes to support responsible use; while maintaining the standards our clients expect from us. Any use of AI by our team remains subject to lawyer oversight, independent review and our existing professional obligations, including duties relating to confidentiality, privacy, accuracy and ethical practice.

HHG has implemented internal policies, governance processes and training to support the responsible use of AI across the firm. This includes assessing approved tools for security, privacy, reliability and suitability within a legal environment, together with ongoing review as technologies and regulatory expectations evolve. Our professional team is regularly called upon by business and industry groups, and other firms, to advise and conduct presentations and training on understanding and integrating AI.

We are committed to using AI in a way that supports better client service while maintaining the standards of care, discretion and accountability expected of a legal practice. All legal work remains the responsibility of our lawyers.
