Testamonial from Carl Altmann, MA:

Welcome Artists!

Art is generally undervalued by Australians (Australians and the arts, 2001, p.51). Artists frequently rely on sources of income other than their art just to survive. It’s very difficult to finance an exhibition in a commercial gallery, and almost impossible to access a public gallery in Perth. This is where HHG Legal comes in.

HHG Legal Group supports artists by providing them with all the facilities to hold an exhibition completely free of charge. Why? They believe in encouraging the Arts, and besides it puts paintings and prints on their otherwise bare walls. They look after the artists in friendly and supportive ways. Their openings are elegant and well catered for with quality wine and colourful platters of light refreshments.

HHG Legal Group offers facilities to artists who may never have had an exhibition of their work. This is hugely beneficial for artists and for art lovers. The standard of art exhibited is equal to any shown elsewhere in Perth.

HHG has been the ideal place for my first solo exhibition. I received great support from the marketing team, with minimal stress to have my first solo. The setting is just the right size for a first exhibition, HHG put on a beautifully catered sundowner accompanied with a professionally produced catalogue. I highly recommend this exhibition space to any artists in Perth.   – Jane Zandi

Naked Country and Unseen Perspectives – Imogen Blow.

Imogen’s artwork has a heavy focus on the earth, and its diverse orange of vibrant colours. Highlighting the earth’s rich texture and colour draws attention to its raw, naked beauty.

The artist uses her background in psychology to take her audience on a journey to address their preconceived ideas about the world we live in.

Stories of Noongar Boodjar – Melissa Spillman (Woods).

Melissa’s artwork reflects her Indigenous culture, telling stories of the significant connection to country. Her artwork uses a variety of colours, including the traditional ochres. Through a variety of mediums, Melissa uses painting as a tool to tell stories and share her knowledge.

East meets West – Renae Geddes.

Renae’s practice investigates intuition and receptivity through textural mixed media and aspires to express global messages of love, peace, joy and inspiration, transcending broad reality into oneness in the ‘now’ moment. Renae explores painting through splashing, dripping and scraping methods.

Treasured Landscapes – Jacinda Byne.

Painting is Jacinda’s way to communicate the way in which she sees the world around us, our connection to the land, and a sense of place. Colour plays an integral part as it triggers emotions; integrating this with compositions found in nature, she tries to find a connection that brings us together, in a common way.

With a rich artistic career spanning over 25 years. Jacinda has immersed herself in various artistic communities, showcasing her works in both solo exhibitions across Australia and Internationally, and has also been the recipient of Art Awards and Art Residences.

Coming Together – Sherylle Dovaston.

Sherylle’s latest collection, “Coming Together,” is a vivid exploration of emotion, imagination, and memory, celebrating the transformative power of art in shaping human connections.

Sherylle also appreciates and acknowledges the coming together of people in businesses, homes, and public spaces to enjoy and
share art as part of their daily lives.

Return of Focus – Jade van Herwaarde.

Jade Van Herwaarde is an artist, curator and entrepreneur from Walyalup, Fremantle who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in fine art from Curtin University in 2020.

Her oil paintings capture memories of places, colours, and emotions, often inspired by holiday nostalgia and her home garden.

Through vibrant colours and fluid brushstrokes, she portrays fleeting moments infused with the calmness of nature, inviting viewers to pause and reflect.

Outside – Anne Evans & Robin Marsh.

The “Outside” Exhibition is a fascinating insight into outdoor painting. Surrounded by the large outdoors, we drill down on something that captures our imagination and transports via paint a visual record of time and light. Challenging outdoor conditions hone our skills and some days we bas a beauty. The painting you see are our trophies of the outdoors. They bear witness to our courage to be outside in more ways than one.

I have exhibited at HHG Legal Group and couldn’t believe the support I got from the team. It gave me a boost to my continuing growth as an artist. Felt welcomed and supported. I even sold several paintings. Such a great initiative.

Love is Green – Kat Ferguson.

A little over ten years ago, Kat created a multimedia piece titled ‘Colourwave’.

This multimedia artwork incorporated fabric, stitching, and printed paper. The piece marked the beginning of her journey into an intuitive practice of translating emotions, thoughts, conversations, and experiences into  abstract colour-based artworks.

Each piece in this collection originates from a meaningful experience or conversation, some expressed literally and others through more abstract forms.

Veritas – Sophie Taylor.

These works were created during a time of deep personal growth for Sophie after experiencing grief, change and loss. During this time she has been highly cognisant of the frailty, but also, the resilience of humans and the need to be authentic and vulnerable when connecting with others. Though these pieces are true to Sophie’s style, with vibrant colour and bold design, there is still great vulnerability in boldness and honesty. Her intention is to take the mystique out of artistic processes, and connect with people on a fundamental level, through the beauty of colour, shape and design.

The team at HHG were very supportive and helpful in putting together my exhibition and I appreciated the support and the sales!

Eclectic – Noreen Clapp & Colin Pumphrey.

Just like the whole wonderful art world, our subjects and styles in this exhibition are diverse and reflecting our individual personalities.

Through both our art journeys, we have learned to appreciate
and enjoy all types of art, while focusing in recent years on Plein-Air and urban sketching in the vast outdoors. Within the delights and challenges we face in the studios and with onsite art, the results are a continual creative learning and triumphant life experience for us both.

Thank you HHG and staff for all your support and professionalism during Noreen and my recent exhibition, and for your ongoing great work in supporting local artists and art world.

J to Z – Jane Zandi

This exhibition brings together the subjects Jane most enjoys painting. The works include watercolours painted en plein air, capturing light and atmosphere as they unfold, as well as studio pieces that began as outdoor studies.

Jane also experiments with painting on Yupo, embracing its unpredictability and the unexpected results it can produce. Life drawing remains an important part of her practice, sharpening her observation and supporting her wider body of work.

For Jane, it is especially meaningful when someone recognises a place in a painting and connects it to their own experience.
