Sustainable growth starts with people – building strong culture, supporting future leaders, and creating an organisation where people can genuinely thrive.

Merrill MacNish is the Chief Executive Officer of HHG Legal Group, leading the firm’s strategic direction, operational performance, and continued growth across Western Australia.

With more than 20 years’ experience across business ownership, governance, government, and professional services leadership, Merrill brings a commercially focused and people-centred approach to leading the firm. She works closely with HHG’s executive and leadership teams to strengthen culture, support the development of future leaders, and deliver sustainable growth across both metropolitan and regional Western Australia.

Merrill joined HHG following a successful entrepreneurial career spanning 17 years, where she founded, scaled, and operated several businesses in regional WA. Her contribution to business and community was recognised through a WA 40 Under 40 Award and multiple Business of the Year awards.

Her experience extends across the private, government, agribusiness, and not-for-profit sectors, providing a broad commercial perspective that continues to shape HHG’s strategic direction. Merrill has also held numerous governance and leadership positions, including roles with the Small Business Development Corporation, Mid West Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Peel Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

As CEO, Merrill has played a significant role in HHG’s evolution as a modern WA-owned law firm focused on long-term relationships, strong leadership, and sustainable growth. She has helped drive initiatives centred on operational improvement, leadership development, employee engagement, and innovation across the business.

Merrill is passionate about building an organisation where people are supported to grow, contribute meaningfully, and build long-term careers. She believes strong culture, accountability, and collaboration are fundamental to delivering exceptional outcomes for clients and creating a business that continues to evolve with the needs of the community it serves.

Working alongside Managing Director Murray Hills, Merrill is helping shape HHG’s next phase of growth through a leadership model focused on continuity, accessibility, and long-term value for clients, staff, and the wider Western Australian community.
