CHARITIES GIVING BACK HOPE AT CHRISTMAS

Each year, HHG Giving Back supports three charities, providing financial contributions and pro-bono legal advice. By supporting Hagar, Path of Hope and Fresh Start, we hope to ensure vulnerable members of the community receive the help they need. As 2018 concludes, let’s reflect on the impact these charities have had.

Hagar Australia’s long-term partner, The Pratt Foundation, is embodying the spirit of Christmas. Through to December 25, they will match gifts made to Hagar dollar-for-dollar, doubling the impact of donations. Now, a contribution of just $40.50 will support a child in foster care for a month, providing them with a safe space to heal. Together, by giving generously, we can help children who have been trafficked or abused build a new life.

For many, Christmas is a time of joy and merriment. For others, it is a time of apprehension, with tensions running high and emotions turbulent. As the risk of domestic violence heightens over the holiday season, the assistance and resources provided by Path of Hope become imperative. Path of Hope assists women who are currently experiencing, or are vulnerable to, domestic violence. Through their support and guidance, women are empowered to take appropriate steps towards an improved quality of life for themselves and their children.

New Year’s fills us with hope. As the clock chimes over to January, the buzz of anticipation is almost tangible. Slates are wiped clean, resolutions made, and a new beginning promises the possibility of a better, brighter future. Fresh Start Recovery Programme delivers these futures year-round, helping drug users and their families recover from addiction. Through their services, 895 patients were detoxed in 2016, a pivotal step in their journey to recovery.

This year, HHG Giving Back have also partnered up with The Salvation Army to give hope to Australians battling through tough times. Over the past few weeks, HHG Legal Group staff have been collecting toys and food items to help The Salvation Army provide hampers for people struggling to afford basic meals and provide gifts for kids who would otherwise get none.

Have you thought about how you will give back this Christmas season?
