Daniel Morris | Building & Construction, Commercial Litigation | Special Counsel
Daniel Morris is Special Counsel in the Dispute Resolution, Commercial Litigation, Construction and Engineering team at HHG Legal Group.
Admitted to practice in 2003, Daniel has advised and litigated in a variety of practice areas including:
- Building and construction;
- Commonwealth crime;
- corporate and commercial disputes;
- Personal property security law;
- planning and development;
- property disputes;
- vocational regulation; and
- equity and trusts.
Daniel is experienced in all aspects of litigation and dispute resolution, including trial and appellate advocacy in all WA courts and tribunals (Supreme Court, District Court, Magistrates Court, State Administrative Tribunal and the former Building Commission).
Since 2007, Daniel has developed particular expertise in construction law.
He graduated from the University of Melbourne’s Construction Law Masters course in 2013 and been awarded the Society of Construction Law’s Brooking Prize in 2014. He is also widely published in the area, including in pre-eminent law journals such as the Australian Law Journal and the International Construction Law Review.
Daniel has also lectured in law at several Australian universities and regularly presents to various professional and industry audiences, including the WA Building Commission, WA Local Government Association, Legalwise, the Civil Contractors’ Federation, the Society of Construction Law, the Master Builders’ Association, the Chartered Institute of Building, the Australian Institute of Architects and the Resolution Institute.
Before joining HHG Legal Group in 2013, he was an Associate at a commercial law firm in Perth following three years as a Commonwealth prosecutor.
